Theme System
XClaw's theme system supports multi-level appearance customization.
Themes go beyond a simple "light and dark" toggle. XClaw offers multiple complete color schemes, each carefully tuned for comfort during extended use. You can also create variants based on existing themes.
Themes are workspace-level configuration. Different workspaces can use different themes — this isn't just aesthetic preference, it's a practical visual differentiation strategy. When switching between workspaces, different colors help you instantly recognize the current context.
The theme system supports automatic OS appearance tracking. When your operating system switches from light to dark mode, XClaw follows.
Themes affect: the app shell, editor area, sidebar, conversation bubbles, and code highlighting. All regions maintain visual consistency.
How to
Open Settings > Appearance (or Workspace Settings > Theme) to see all available theme options. Click to preview — changes apply instantly, no restart needed.
Want the theme to follow your system? Enable "Follow System Appearance" in theme settings, and XClaw automatically switches when your OS toggles light/dark mode. You can also specify different themes for each mode.
If none of the built-in themes feel quite right, pick one that's close and click "Create Variant" to fine-tune the colors. Your custom variant is saved in the workspace.
Using different themes for different workspaces is a recommended practice — say, a dark theme for work projects and a light one for personal projects. It helps you instantly recognize context when switching between workspaces.
