Notifications

When Agents work in the background, you need a way to know when to come back and check. XClaw's notification system provides multi-level alert mechanisms.

The lightest is the completion chime — a short sound plays when the Agent finishes a task. You know there are results without looking at the screen. The sound can be customized or disabled.

System notifications use the OS's native notification center. Even when XClaw's window is behind other apps, you'll see the notification popup.

On macOS, Dynamic Island is the most intuitive — a persistent floating indicator at the top of the screen showing real-time Agent status.

These three levels can be toggled independently and combined. Configure in Settings > Notifications.

How to

Open Settings > Notifications and you'll see independent toggles for three notification types: completion chime, system notifications, and Dynamic Island (macOS only). Mix and match based on your preferences.

The completion chime is on by default. Working in a quiet environment and want something subtler? Click the sound option to choose a different chime, or mute it entirely.

System notifications require OS permission — XClaw will request notification access the first time you enable it. If you previously denied it, go to your system's Settings > Notifications, find XClaw, and enable it manually.

For Dynamic Island setup details, see the "Dynamic Island" docs page.

Pro tip: if you frequently run multiple background tasks, enable system notifications + completion chime together. This way you won't miss the Agent's completion even when you're focused in another app.
