Installation

XClaw is a desktop application that runs on your own machine. Your session data, credentials, and configuration stay local — nothing is uploaded to our servers.

Native builds are available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows, and Linux. Apple Silicon users should pick the ARM64 build; Intel Macs need x64.

Since the app is not yet notarized with Apple, macOS will block the first launch via Gatekeeper. This isn't a security issue — you just need to allow it once in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Beyond the desktop client, XClaw's core can also run as a standalone background service. This means you can deploy it on a remote server and access it through the built-in browser UI or command-line tool. All three access methods share the same sessions and configuration.

How to

Head to the XClaw website's download page and grab the installer for your platform. macOS users, make sure you pick the right chip — Apple Silicon (ARM64) or Intel (x64). Not sure? Click the Apple menu in the top-left > About This Mac and check the chip info.

Double-click the installer and follow the prompts. On macOS, if you see a "can't be opened" warning on first launch, open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to find the blocked app notice, and click "Open Anyway." You only need to do this once.

If you want to run XClaw as a background service, check out the "Server Mode" docs page for details on how to start the daemon and access it from a browser.
